I recently read an article on Medium about a man who was working so hard in his business and getting burnt out. Then he had the chance encounter to get on a call with Seth Godin, and Seth asked him a few questions, but the best advice he received was:
“Don’t build a business because you want freedom. Build a business because you want to run a business.”
This totally resonates with me. I speak with business owners all the time and we chat about “their why” and often they say, they want the flexibility, the freedom, to be available to their small children….but not often because they wanted to run a business.
